The cupholder in my Montana is stuck,and won't come out...what do I take apart to get it back out?

Transmission is slipping, Will have to be taken to a transmission shop to be check out,End plan to have a big bill for it,

Hi. This is an easy do. With the cup holder fully extended, slide a flat puddy knibe into the top **** between the cupholder and the the dash. slide it side to side to disengage the stops that are part of the cupholder while pulling out lightly on the cupholder. It should come out without much effort. To reinstall, just push the replacement cupholder into the slot. Good luck!

recheck the transmission connections either loose or not properly installed

There should be 4 access screws holding it down locate them in the console and it should come right out good luck hope this helps

94-99 luminas i think are all the same as far as the dash and the console etc.... At any rate i ran into this problem so i can tell you what to do.
#1 Remove the ash tray by pulling it out n pressing the silver tab down while pulling it completely out of the dash
#2 Remove the four 9/32 nuts around the perimeter of the black metal housing that held the ashtray in place
#3 there are 2 more hidden 9/32 nuts right under the trim piece under the stereo. If you aren't careful you will bust ur dash apart and have to replace this all. The easy way i did it was i pulled out the broken cupholder and sawed it in half then pushed it back in so i gained easier access to the bolt locations as they are quite hidden, next pull up the bottom right corner of the radio trim piece on the dash and keep it propped with a flathead screwdriver and remove the final 2 nuts. Twist loose the cigarette lighter hookup, bend back the 2 tabs holding the old cupholder in the track to remove it and ur ready to re-install ur new cupholder

I had a problem with the back seat cup holders. You can actually remove the whole console. I took mine to the dealer and they fixed it for free. They did not even sell me my car. Here is the link to the manuals:

look inside the cupholder see if there is screws.

u need to take apart the center console..once u remove the cup holder u need to file down the little nibble just a tad bit and it will work just fine

If you are looking to get at the section from the cupholder down to the cigarette lighter, start with the screws you can access when the cupholder is pulled out. If I remember correctly, after those are out you can pull the rest slowly out from there.

there are 4 screws. two in the front behind the cup holder and two up underneath in the cupholder bay after the cupholder is removed. they are phillips head and 8mm I believe. this is all you need to remove the cover.
