The dealer said there is nothing else they can do
Dealers are basically very lazy people and any problem that they have to spend time on becomes too hard
The answer is to stick a rocket up them and you do this by contacting the manufacturer head office , customer relations or technical division and making a formal written complaint about the dealer lack of equipment knowledge and their attitude to fixing the product in writing (e-mail)
in your communication state exactly what the problem is , when it occurs , vin number of the vehicle , dealer name, dealer principle name , age of the vehicle , mileage , when the problem was first reported to the dealer and the dealer response ---use only facts
From experience , when a dealer tried to pass over an engine problem because it was 6 months to being out of warranty and refused to fix the problem because there was only 6 months left on the warranty, my daughter sent a letter off to the manufacturer and low and behold ,2 weeks later she received a letter from the manufacturer telling her to present the vehicle to the dealer where the repairs would be carried out immediately under warranty
not only that the company offered to provide another full 5 year new car warranty for the car for $900.00 aud a deal which was too good to pass up as compensation for the lousy attitude of the dealer
So basically what I am saying is this , dealers do not like fixing vehicles as it costs time and money even if it is under warranty but manufacturers know that in the car business one bad dealer causes a lot of missed car sales so they kick the buts of bad dealers and some even take the dealership away from that dealer
It doesn't hurt to communicate a problem to a higher authority
