Feb 22, 2011 - ... do something with a misfire in the #5 cylinder of my V6 4.0L engine. ... ODB Code P0305- Misfire in #5 Cylinder on 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan .... My2005 dodge grand caravan jerks when it shifts into gear what could it be.
I would clear the code and see if it returns. If the EGR valve is stuck open, it would make it buck or shutter. If the EGR valve is not functioning right, or clogged up, it will effect proformance. I would replace the EGR valve. I read that it's a common problem.
You will have to test the purge solenoid that vents fuel vapor to the charcoal canister ( or back into the engine ) with a multimeter, check for ohms resistance per values set by dodge, the values are in the haynes repair manual.
it means that your Evap system has small venting leak. gas cap is most common cause. if after the gas cap is changed reset light, if it returns then you will need to get a smoke test done in order to find the leak.
3.3 engines has the egr valve with transducer.you have to replace the whole unit. code p0406 what its trying to tell you your egr valve circuit is short to ground.it has failed .
the PO406 code is the EGR position sensor. I have heard tho that DMX corp had some issues with this code in the past where basically it was just tossing false codes. But they also did have a higher fail rate on them during 05-07, so you may have to replace it anyways.
