One of the most likely culprits for a stuck ignition key is the steering wheel locking mechanism. When a vehicle is parked, the steering wheel can lock. That's great for theft prevention, but it also prevents the key from turning or being removed from the ignition switch.
I will need a little more information does your shifter go into the park position there are two cables that come off of your shifter one goes to the transmission to shift the gears the second cable comes up to the steering column this is the one that when you get in your car put the key in start it you have to step on the brake pedal which releases an electric solenoid which allows an electric solenoid to open allowing the cable to be shipped in the vehicle to come out of park the opposite applies if putting the vehicle in part and the cable does not return to its resting place you cannot lock the steering ignition for safety reasons
Put your foot on the brake and rack through all the gears and back to park.
It's stuck :(

Does the engine crank but just not start? Or... are you cycling the ignition switch without trying to crank the engine? Based on the information you have given, I would first guess that the fuel pump may be going out. I say this because when you first turn the key on the pump primes the engine with pressurized fuel. If the pump is getting old, it may take a few power cycles to get it going. You can test this theory by having somebody listen near the rear of the car while you turn the key on for the first time. The fuel pump make a faint, yet distinctive high pitch noise that can be heard when you turn the key on. Try that first. Next thing you would try is checking the relays for proper function... starting with the fuel pump relay. Good luck.
