I'm not 100% positive about a 1992 Toronado, but on my 1986 Toronado the BCM is behind and to the upper left of the glove box, and the ECM is behind the right side kick panel in front of the door. GM had a habit of moving them around from year to year.
Do you hear a clicking noise as if it is trying to close? If so, it may be the gear located in the h/light motor housing that needs replacing. You can purchase these for anywhere from 24.99 - 65.00 each, online. Hope this helped.
The courtesy lights as well as the map lights (located on the bottom side of the rearview mirror) will come on when you open a door (unless it's bright outside) and will remain lit for approx 30 seconds and then will turn off. This is verbatim from my '92 Corvette owners manual - The map lights can be turned on and off, but there isn't a delay switch, persay. Hope this helped.
