What's causing my 2001 hyundai accent to be noisy when moving on the driver side front wheel?

When I start moving forward there is a terrible noise, like metal grinding against metal, in the driver side front wheel area. Gradually it's gotten worse & more frequent. The noise seems to be constant now. The noise gets louder & sounds worse when I turn.

My answer is a bad wheel bearing I explain it in the comment on the prior gentleman's answering of the question I can repeat it if you need me to but I think it's spelled out pretty well in the comment section of the first answer good day.

So my comment is that it's a bad wheel bearing and if you get it up to about 25 miles an hour and turn to the right and left in the noise comes and goes you're turning to the left and the noise is loud all the way to the vehicles getting pushed out of the right front wheel which would make more pressure on the bearing and if the bearings bad the more pressure you have the louder the bearings get the louder the noise is going to be and then vice versa and it's pretty common on pretty much at all making models to have bad wheel bearings unfortunately and they're not re packable they're not serviceable do you have to replace the hub and bearing assembly usually with an ABS sensor usually an hour to an hour and a half and labor to replace it bearings range from 60 to $400

Whining noise off something at front either front wheels or gearbox

Hi,
It may be the front wheel bearing. A mechanic is needed to fix.

It may also be the CV axle....also requires a mechanic.

Noise from rear of 2001 Hyundai accent.

Take it to a different tire store, and ask them to look for a separated belt or an out-of-round tire. The store that balance your tires should have caught that. A bent wheel is another possibility

Or: On a lift, slowly rotate the tire, standing 6-8 feet behind the car and watch the edges of the tread -- see if they "wobble" from side to side. That's a bad tire.

Or: Rotate tires front to back and see if the problem shows up in the steering wheel.

I just bought a 2005 Grand Cherokee and noticed the road noise is terrible when driving. Can this be corrected?

There are lots of possible causes, and they can all be fixed.

One is alignment. If there is a bent tierod or something from hitting a curb, the front tires will be scrapping sideways slightly, and very noisy.
Very high traction tires are also very noisy inherently.
Wheel bearing will also do this, but unlikely at this new age.
Rotating radial tires from one side to another will cause excess tire noise because cords will be slack in the tire. But there is not much that can be done if that is the case except new tires.
Tire pressure either to high or low can be very noisy.
Wheel balance can do it also.

Bearing trouble

Ouch, get your wheel bearings checked. I had a 97 Hyundai and in the 3 years I had it, the front bearings had to be replaced twice and the rear once once.

Front wheel bearing/break

Could be a wheel bearing that is starting to have trouble - you won't always hear it right as soon as it starts to fail. If it is a wheel bearing though, very soon you'll start to notice a rumbling noise.
