Re: Battery shorted out now no ignition, I replaced...
The Internet, though, has a large number of web sites where you can buy service manuals and schematics from bookstores, publishers, and other collectors. Here is just a sampling of what sites are out there:

The act of replacing the battery will not damage or effect Remote start up or ECM functions. Either this is a coincidence or when the Battery was replaced you inadvertently affected a ground strap. Ground straps are placed against painted panels. These panels can arc because of poor contact surface area. A poor ground will affect different on-board systems. Please start there. The autostart feature utilizes the same circuits that the ignition key uses to start the vehicle. The only difference is the autostart system bypasses the anti theft circuit at the ignition switch. If you can duplicate the symptoms consistently and are sure the autostart system is affecting ignition operations. These issues would go back to the PCM. Ignition voltage could be affected by a short or faulty component. The trouble code is a misfire code to cylinder number three.
Just the key or the whole lock cylinder with key ?
Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
Disconnect the battery negative cable.
Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System
Position the steering wheel half way between the upper and lower tilt stops (if necessary).
Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
Roll back the shift lever seal from the upper and the lower shrouds.
Remove the tilt wheel lever (if necessary). Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .
Remove the 2 TORX® screws from the lower steering column shroud.
Remove the lower steering column shroud.
Remove the 2 TORX® screws from the upper steering column shroud.
Lift the upper steering column shroud to gain access to the lock cylinder access hole.
Using a bent tip awl, insert the tip into the ignition lock cylinder access hole.
Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the START position.
Using the bent tip awl, push down on the ignition lock cylinder retaining pin.
Release the ignition lock cylinder to the RUN position.
Remove the ignition lock cylinder from the lock module assembly by pulling the ignition lock cylinder away from the steering column.
Removal Procedure
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• Air bag deployment
• Personal injury
• Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
• If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.

Put the steering column in the CENTER position. Remove the tilt lever (1).
Remove the retaining screws (3) from the lower steering column trim cover. Disconnect the closeout trim cover from the lower steering column trim cover.
Remove the retaining screw (2) from the upper steering column trim cover (1).
there is a short in your steering column. there is usually a sponge between two metal pieces that turns on when you press on the horn. it might be too thin now: you need to find the short and separate them nicely.
starter? New battery drained = something is still powered, open/short. new ign switch and steering won't lock = something was not put together right and the ignition is staying on and draining the battery.
1 Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery using a 1/2-inch wrench. The battery in the 1995 Mustang is located on the driver-side of the engine compartment behind the headlight assembly. Wait 15 minutes to allow the residual charge in the air bag system to discharge and the air bag system to be disabled. This will prevent accidental deployment of the air bags.
2 Remove the steering column trim cover screws, located on the bottom of the steering column cover behind the steering wheel, using a screwdriver. Lower the tilt steering wheel fully. Unsnap the two halves of the trim cover from each other and remove them.
3 Turn the ignition key to the run position. Insert a 1/8-inch punch into the small retaining pin hole, located below the lock cylinder housing, and depress the retaining pin. Slide the old cylinder out of the housing.
4 Turn the key to the run position in the new ignition lock and insert the new ignition lock into the housing. Turn the key to the off position to lock the new cylinder into the housing. Turn the ignition key to the off position and pull on the ignition lock to verify it is securely installed. Reinstall the steering column trim covers. Reconnect the battery and tighten the cable clamp bolt securely.
The ignition lock assembly
contains two components: a lock cylinder to deter theft and an
electrical portion that supplies power to electrical components such as
the radio, electric windows, and windshield wipers. The electrical
portion of the ignition switch also provides power to the starter motor to start the engine.
The ignition lock is an anti-theft device that prevents a vehicle from being driven unless the ignition key is in the ignition switch. If the ignition key is not in the ignition switch, it 's impossible to turn the steering wheel.
To replace the ignition switch cylinder lock, the trim panels around
the steering wheel are removed. Then the tamper-proof hardware that
attaches the ignition lock assembly to the steering column is removed.
The ignition lock assembly is removed from the steering column, and the
lock cylinder is replaced. The new ignition lock is reattached to the
steering column, and the trim panels are replaced.make sure you dissconect battery first the 1997 had a recall on the ignition switch dont no if the 1995 had a recall if so they will replace for free
you should have checked the alternator and the battery before you did that. my 03 montecarlo has the idnition on the dash above the radio but i'm thinking yours may have it in the steering column. check the ignition mechanism and for any stripped or broken wires
