Question about 1998 Dodge Neon

Why does it seem as though my battery is completely dead but it isn't?

Drove the car home night before last and shut it off. Went out to start it yesterday and there is no power. As if battery is dead. Put battery on charger, says fully charged. No lights, no starter, nothing.

A bad cell could have too much internal resistance when the battery has to draw many amps to turn starter over. Put headlights on then hit the starter, if the headlights go off, the battery is bad or a connection at the battery cable or ground cable is dirty.
If you have a voltmeter, attach to battery and notice voltage of ~12v or greater, then hit starter, if battery is bad, the voltage will go from ~12v to under 9v and result is starter won't turn over the engine.

There is no power to anything. Including headlights, nothing electrical comes on. No clicking when I turn the key, no lights in dashboard, no blower, no headlights, nothing.

I would first clean the battery post and clamps, as a bad connection can cause a vehicle to act like the battery is dead, you can either buy battery terminal cleaner( it comes in a spray can) or you can use coke and a wire brush. Hope this helped Tim

Is the battery dead? Your alternator may be bad. If you drove it last night you may have driven on battery power and not realized it. You should have gotten some kind of warning message. Need to know if the battery is dead.

Running so few miles has accelerated the aging of the battery - the battery never had a chance to fully recharge in such small trips - so now you have to replace it a year sooner than usual.
Just replace it.

Sounds as if dimmer slider/switch is going to ground on this model the headlight switch should have a dimmer thumbwheel, if it is all the way up and then you feel the indent and that should turn the inside domelamp on, if it does not the switch is bad. also check your vanity mirror covers, sometimes the little pins that shot off the light when you close the mirror covers stick open and run your battery down over night or in a few hours. Charge battery and then check these lights first, depress white pins to shut off.

If you don't have any electric functions working I would have to say that the battery is dead. Where the lights left on last night or a door open? You can take the battery out and take it to your local auto parts store and they can test it for you to make sure it's not dead and if it's not, then you can have them charge it for you.
