The relay clicks and it wont start - 2005 Dodge Caravan

What year vehicle ? The clicking sound you hear from bake seat is probably a relay ! There is a fuse / relay box under the back seat ! How did you check the starter relay ? Just pull it out an look at it ? Was it #36 START 1 Relay

This relay is computer energized - PCM supply's a ground to circuit 447 which energizes the relay sending voltage to the starter S terminal engaging the starter . Do you have a test light or a volt ohm meter ? If you pull out the starter relay an look on the bottom you will see some numbers , 85,86 an 30,87 . match them up to the holes they came out of . Check out this video on YouTube ,you can check for voltage an computer control . Is the SECRUITY light lit on the dash ?

Did you check the relay? Maybe swap it with another and see if that works.

It sounds like you do have a relay problem try switching relays around that have the same part number start with the starter relay when switching the make sure the key is off each time

Clicking relays usually means low battery voltage, so the first thing to do is have a parts store load test the battery.

dead battery, starter, or selenoid. I would start with checking the battery.

Could be several things....but i need more information. When it doesnt start, does it crank or when u turn the nothing at happens other than the relay?

It's probably the A/C relay under the hood indeed. And your battery might have gone bad too.

There are two ways to hook up an immobilizer on a car. One is to break the continuity of the ignition system power suplly. This would result in an engine that cranks but wont start. Another way is to break the continuity of the starting relay. If an installer knows what he is doing he would wire it so that the relay wont get power to the coil. This would result in a car that don't even click when you turn the key so I doubt it is the immobilizer. If the starting relay clicks, the contacts on the relay might be worn out, and not getting enough current to drive the solenoid. One way to check this is by using a volt meter. And check to see if there are voltages going to the starter solenoid, when the key is turned. It should be almost the same as battery voltage. If the voltage going there are no voltage going to the solenoid, or the voltage going there is low, for exmple 8 volts then the contact on the relay is bad. Remember this is if the relay clicks. If the click is loud, and coming from the starter itself but it wont turn, replace the starter, that means the starter solenoid is bad, or if you can buy just the solenoid it maybe cheaper, but you have to know how to take a starter apart, I dont recommend that tho.
