Glen is on track
when the gauge goes to full it indicates a short in the wire, either from a faulty sender (not sensor and 1 wire only) or the wire has come of the sender and is touching the head or block
the coolant sensor sends the signal to the ECM to switch on the fans and adjust mixture as the coolant temp gets to set parameters

If your temperature gauge reads hot as soon as you turn the ignition on it's probably due to a faulty temperature sender. The link below may show you the location of that sensor:

The sensor is very easy to change. It just screws into the block. It may have a 'brass' appearance and have either 1 or 2 electrical wires attached.

To change it, simply disconnect the wire and then use a wrench to unscrew it.

SOURCE: temperature gauge

Well let's see....You did not say the temp of the heat changed inside your car... if it does NOT ...I say the gauge is messed up....

A thermostat usually sticks open or closed.. if it is broke.

If it is defective the car will start getting hotter under a load going uphill or....when the a/c is running it will not put out cool air while sitting still at a stoplight or heavy traffic..

You could have a faulty temperature sensor or guage, my bet would be the sensor... check and make sure the wire connection is connected properly.

98 nissan frontier cranks but wont start when hot

Unless the head gasket is leaking, I would think you are looking for something electrical that is not working when hot, or a fuel problem.
Do you know if you have spark and fuel pressure when it will not start ?

The temperature gauge reading of my nissan admax 2001 model is always too high. but im not experiencing overheating. what do i do?

If your temperature gauge is reading too high, it can only be one of two things: The engine is overheating or the gauge is "lying" to you. I would recommend first taking the temperature of the cylinder head with an infrared thermometer to determine which one it is. If the engine is actually as hot as the guge says it is, then you need to check your cooling system. If the engine is not as hot as the gauge says it is then you need to diagnose and repair your gauge circuit. (most likely an inaccurate temperature sensor)

Frontier wants to run hotbut I can turn heat on in

Sounds like your engine cooling fans are not coming on properly.

This can be a bad fan motor, a bad temperature switch, or a bad relay or blown fuse.

2005 nissan frontier. the temperature gauge goes all the way to hot when you turn the key on, even before you start the truck.

There is a coolant temperature switch that tells the guage what temp. to read. Try changing the switch first, should be fairly inexpensive and not very hard to do.

My '98 Nissan Frontier has odometer reading of 999999, full fuel hot temp speedo up to20mph tach not right. What's wrong and best place to get parts?

The instrument cluster is messed up. Best bet is to take it out and send it to one of the several companies that repair them. The cheapest I found was www.dnaspeedometers.com. But do NOT buy one from a junk yard because it did the same thing after about a month. I was out $100. Please contact me if you need anymore info at rcg2322@bellsouth.net
