Does the buzz increase and decrease with engine RPM? if so a capacitor/filter is needed in the powering of that circuit (although that should not happen with a factory unit if installed as spec'd by the manufacturer).

SOURCE: 97 dakota installed radio harness have power no sound

If you still haven't fixed this, look at your wiring harness. The blue wire that comes off your factory harness is the external amp in the Infinity stereo. I found this out when I hooked my Pioneer head unit up. Coming off the aftermarket stereo should be a blue wire that says remote. Hook those up and you should be good to go.

My speakers will start to make a crackling sort of noise then stop. Sometimes the radio will not play at all. Sometimes the speakes make this crackling noise then they stop making the noise and play ok for...

Are your speakers factory? Sometimes the wires start corroding from moistures or from not being covered well. If you can or know someone who can, you may try checking the wires to the speakers/radio. If they are corroding, they may be shorting out.

Rear Speakers 5 1/4" Rear Deck

Left Rear (-) Yellow
Right Rear (+) Red
Right Rear (-) White

I a '83 camry, there are 2 seperate plugs that go into a factory radio.
One for Power/and front speakers, and the other for rear speakers.

Sounds as if you are missing part of the harness for the rear speakers (or it is shoved in the back of the dash unused by the previous install). If there is not an un-cut plug in the dash - your only course of action would be to run your own set of speaker wire to the rear.

See this picture... these are the plugs that should go into your factory radio....

Metra kit 71-1938 will go from your factory wiring directly into your factory radio.

I need to know what colors mean what, so i can hook my cd player up

Red - Power
Yellow - primary power must be joined to the red
blue - Remote
Black - ground or negative
To find your speaker wires check the color of the cord behind each speaker than match it with the same color in the dash.
or the easy way is to use a normal 1.5v penlight battery and try each speaker cord behind the dash and listen to which speaker give off a crackling noise so you can get the balance on the cd player right.
If u trying to find power in the car and don't have a tester than get a 12v light or bulb join the negative to the body and push the positive wire into each one of the holes in the factory plug in the dash one at a time until the light comes on. That is your positive the rest is easy. (DIY guru)

Speaker replacement

They still follow the GM standard:

LF+ tan
LF- gray
RF+ light green
RF- dark green

LR+ brown
LR- yellow
RR+ dark blue
RR- light blue

Note that if you're looking for them behind the radio, some of the same colors may be used on other wires. The speaker wires should be placed side-by-side for each speaker.

Also, if you're replacing the factory radio, I highly recommend buying a wire harness adapter instead of cutting off the factory plug.
