2003 dodge neon PO700 (tcm)

I have a 2003 dodge neon, the engine light came on but we couldnt find a problem soi unhooked the battery to reset. it was fine we drove this car 1100 miles to florida. since we have been here the engine light keeps comming on and now when it comes on it wont shift out of 1st gear. you could reset it and it would shift for a little bit. we took it to discount to have a diagnostic ran it through back the speed sensor. i replaced both speed sensors input and output. now the engine light stays on, it wont reset at all it wont shift and now also the speedometer will not work. we ran another diagnostic and now it is spitting out PO700 (transaxle control system malfunction) ????????????

You dont have to pull the tranny to fix this. Some so called "experts" on here shouldnt be giving advice if they dont know. The solenoid pack is located in the front the transmission just below the air filter and in front of the input speed sensor you just replaced. Unbolt the connector with a 10mm socket then the bolts connecting to the tranny. Replace with a new one 140 bux or close(get a new one). Installation is vice versa. Easy fix for any person who is mechanically inclined. Always get a second or third opinion when asking a thousand dollar question on any website. Some people think they know....but they dont.

TCM codes usually mean that the actual computer in the transmission is going out. The tranny usually need to be removed from the Neon because to get to the TCM you must dissasemble the pump, torque converter, etc to get to it. From my experience on sending several Neons out to a transmission shop this seems to be the culprit. The Not shifting out of first gear is what Chrysler Techs like to call "Limp Mode" so one could "limp" it into the shop...good luck with this.

Put your old parts back in, seems as you had less problems then........I am really thinking that you messed something up while changing your sensors.....maybe you can locate and fix this problem? think about it, it had a problem, you tried to fix and now it has many problems.......take three steps back..

Where is the transmission control module on a 2003 dodge dakota 4.7?

It is behind the steering columb, probably easiest to drop the steering columb first. Don't forget any air bags, you don't need those going off ... disconnect the battery first!

What is code po700

It means there is at least one transmission code set in the TCM's memory. P0700 is an informational code only. More diagnosis is necessary to identify what the transmission fault is. This requires a scan tool that will communicate with the transmission module

Im getting po700 pd and po715 and po720

The first number is a zero not an "O" P0700 is just the TCM requesting the PCM to turn on the check engine light. Because of these codes are defective transmission wiring harness, defective shift solenoids, defective transmission internal parts.

2002 Dodge Intrepid- check engine light came on gave me trouble code PO700?

This code indicates an automatic transmission control problem. The presence of this code means that the transmission control module or TCM has detected a fault and relayed it to the PCM. It could be a TCM related solenoid has failed or is damaged or the TCM itself could be faulty. Best wishes.

Po700 and p1776

P0700 is EATX code present. It simply means that the engine computer has noticed that the transmission computer has a dtc in it. This causes the Pcm (engine computer) to turn the check engine light on. You will need to have the TCM (trans computer) checked for codes to know what to diagnose.

error code P1776 - Replace rear solenoid switch

Likely both related The P1776 probably kicked off the P0700 notification.

Hope that helps! Happy Motoring!

2003 Dodge Neon SXT

Do check the motor mounts! Start the car, have a helper shift from reverse to drive! Is there a lotta engine movement?? Replace the faulty mounts. My quess it is almost flipping over! The output speed sensor likely on the back middle of the trans. There are only 2 connectors, the other is backup lights. Best I can do at this time! Frankster016
