I am not sure about the Colorado, but most vehicles about that age have a plastic clip. If you open the hood it is near the back of the headlight area and pulls straight up. You should be able to take these two clips off and the headlight will go straight forward, you can then twist the bulb holders out of the headlight assembly. Reverse procedure to install. Yes ! The headlight is more than cracked,which is allowing moisture in. the sensor is not part of the headlight {dust to dawn operation}. If you replace headlight. You will have no problem with operation of lights.

Change headlights in 2004 Chevy Malibu Classic
Open the hood and pull up on the two black tabs on either side of the lamp assembly. Pull the lamp assembly forward gently and unclip the wiring harness. Twist the socket counter-clockwise and remove it. The bulb should be removed by wiggling it.
Install new bulb in its place and turn the socket back into place. Reconnect the wiring harness and return the lamp to its original position. Line up the holes in the lamp assembly to the round ends of the mounting pins, and press down on the two black tabs to hook the lamp assembly into place.

if ur replacing it remove front grill disconnect both lines and carefully remove retaining clips from radiator if replacement is original eguipt mount & reconnect --if its a universal follow instructions usually cut off fittings and use clamps and hose to hook up

no you dont need a special tool you have to take the throttle body off it makes it sooooooo much more simple.
