SOURCE: White smoke and engine cutting out

It sounds like the cylinder head gasket, or even a cracked head. You must go back to the repair shop.

Hello I'm trying to fix my head gasket on my mitsubishi shogun tdi 2004, but when trying to re fit the head gasket can't seem to get the bolts yo align properly. Any suggestions thanks, Lee

First place the gaskets on the head to see if they are the correct ones. Then to install, find some bolts that are the same size of the head bolts and cut off the top of them. Install then in the block, put on the head gasket , and put on the head. Then remove the bolts

I've a 1999 mercury stable 3.0 double over head cam it got hot and cut off when cooled off chanked it up and blowing white smoke it don't seemingly to have water in the oil does that mean I have a cracked...

If your engine has overheated then more than likely you have a blown head gasket.
1. have compression checked for each cylinder.
if a cylinder shows low compression 20 lbs less than the others then you have a gasket/head job needing repaired.
2. if there is water in the oil. your engine has a blown head gasket.

aluminum heads will need to be checked at a machine shop for warpped head...and all head bolts will need replaced.

Oil in water coolant bottle of rover 25i

HI. If your car is equipped with an engine oil cooler that uses coolant to operate, this would be a good place to start (This is a big issue in some GM vehicals). Sometimes an engine oil cooler can act like a one way valve. When the engine is not running but is still hot the cooling system will have about 15 pounds of residual pressure forcing coolant into the engine. This problem can be repaired by replacing the engine oil cooler. Once the oil cooler has been replaced you must replace the engine oil and filter and recheck for the conditions once more. There are three remaining causes for coolant in the motor oil, and they all require you to dismantle the engine. This can be tricky because the repair overlaps and it is difficult to tell which one is causing the problem. For example: A mechanic has told you that the cylinder head is cracked, or warped, and as they start disassembling, the tech discovers that it is the intake manifold gasket that has failed. It's up to the repair shop to tell the customer that the cost of the repair will be less. Or the opposite can happen, example: A repair shop has discovered that your power plant has a blown head gasket, once the disassembling is complete, they inform you the head gasket is ok, and the cylinder has been pressure checked and is ok. This only leaves the engine block as the failure and must be replaced to repair the problem, and that can be very costly. Always check the intake gasket first on V6, V8 and V10 engines. Then the cylinder head gaskets, cylinder heads and finally the engine block.

NOTE: Most common occurrence in this situation will be a failed head gasket set

Intake manifold gasket on 2000 3.1 Vin J (Fed) replaced in '08 - then - distributor (?) plug/gasket failed and drained oil from crank case. Engine now extremely noisy (always had lifter noise) and runs -...

IMO, you have a serious internal engine problem. Probably a bad piston and ring failure. If the car ran hot, the damage could be extensive. the head may have warped and have to be cut flat again. Or replaced. Not to mention the piston . Check the compression on each cylinder. If one or more are lower than the other ones . the pistons are jacked.

Oil transfering into the coolant on a chevy optra. lugs look good, compression is equal on all cylinders.

Probably has a bad head gasket that is leaking between a coolant and oil passage.

Truck starts jerking at 60mph

Its not the catalytic convertor its not the transmission and i dont believe you need a new engine. It does sound like the engine is getting hot though Have you had a TK head test done as head gasket is a possibility. The head does play a major part in the combustion process.but would not require a complete engine if its faulty as heads are easier and cheaper to repair than an engine would be.Its dificult to give you a definitive answer without the vehicle in front of me and a number of tests to determine the true cause. Are you able to remove the spark plugs to see if therse any indication of trouble, all the plugs should be the same color and not too different in any way.If one plug is noticably different then its likely that cylinder is having problems and will isolate which cylinder is giving you trouble. The fact that you can smell the engine usualy means its getting too hot for some reason wether its blocked radiator, faulty thermostat, fan not working or no water left in the radiator. Not sure with your model but some vehicles had the ability to shut itself down to protect itself if over heating occured.
