try to remove the unit and open it and clean the knob from inside with non lubricant cleaner while you turn knob right and lift
if the problem still presents change the knob with the same one
You may have a bad connectors to the Throttle position sensor. A TPS is actually a varistor, or same thing as a variable resistor. It is like the volume control on old stereos that do not have digital volume control. The computer determine throttle angle by input current which varies with the resistance. Make sure the connectors are good before you change it otherwise a new one will not solve the problem. I know how to check a TPS, but it is hard to explain how to do it, but I will try anyways. The TPS has 3 terminals. The resistance should vary as you turn the TPS. In respect to the middle terminal one side will increase, and the other side will decrease in resistance value. Sometimes it is not the center terminal that is the common point. so either way out of three you one that is common to both which should vary in resistanced in oposite ways, one side decreases, and the other increases as it is turned. A short course in electronics. As elctricity flows trough a resistance its current decrease as the resistance increase. The resistance value on a TPS should be around a few thousand OHMS, and the lowest value is around 500 OHMS.
Do you have steering wheel radio controls? Either way (yes or no) you most likely have a wiring issue such as a short to ground or conversely, a bad ground. You could spend hours tracking this one down. You might want to take it to a qualified technician.

This is a known problem with the factory units and no, there is no fix. There is a series of checks you can do, but short of that the only option has been to replace the unit. I have included the graphic for the checks, other than that it is not fixable.
