Alarm goes off when unlocked and undisturbed why?

Try disconnecting the neg. battery terminal. Open the drivers door and leave it unlocked then reconnect the battery back up.

Try pressing the lock and unlock buttons on the remote, holding for a few seconds, then trying the unlock and lock buttons to see if the alarm disarms...your description indicates the car alarm is still armed!

the key fob disables the alarm when you unlock it. either get a key fob or disconnect the alarm.

There are thousands of alarm types out there, the only real way to know for a specific alarm is to look into the owners manual that came with the alarm system.


MOST ALARM SYSTEMS WILL STOP THE ALARM WHEN YOU PUSH EITHER THE LOCK, OR UNLOCK BUTTON.

Some also shut off when the key is put into the ignition and turned on.

On some really secure type model alarms, you may have to find & press the reset button for 5 seconds, or press the button and insert the key. (these switches are sometimes hidden since they can override the alarm)

If it's an aftermarket alarm only type system, you can always find the main power supply to the system, or the fuse and disable it.

If it's a factory system, or one installed to immobilize the ignition/fuel system, then pulling fuses isn't an option as it will disable your ignition on the vehicle.

Most do go off in about 1 minute if left undisturbed, then rearm.

if u turn the key backwards when you get out of the car the alarm will not set

On some cars/trucks/SUV's, the alarm will go off if the car is unlocked with the key or if the door is opened (even from inside the car with the alarm set). Unlocking with a key does not always turn off a car alarm. Best advice, go to the dealership to get a new key-less entry remote, or get a new alarm installed with a remote to override the original alarm system.

put your key in the door and turn it firmly to the unlock postion... I believe it is to the front of the car... then back to center...
The factory alarm can be armed /disarmed by the key in the door.
