2008 lincoln mkx awd power steering belt routing diagram

Is that a typo? The first MKX model was a 2007. It's similar to the Ford Edge. I didn't find any diagrams online, but there are several YouTube videos showing the belt removal process.

1. Remove right front wheel.
2. Remove plastic fender liner. Don't forget the fastener under the frame behind the fender.
3. The belt tensioner has a 3/8" square hole in a tab. Insert a ratchet or breaker bar in this hole and pull it clockwise (facing the engine from the passenger side) while your helper pulls the belt off from underneath the car at the wheel well. The belt runs around the crank pulley, the air conditioner compressor and alternator pulleys (grooved pulleys are on the inside of the belt), and the tensioner pulley pushes against the outside of the belt at the top between the alternator and the crank pulley (flat-faced pulleys are on the outside of the belt).
4. The power steering belt goes between the crank pulley and the power steering pump. It uses the section of the crank pulley closer to the engine block. You could loosen the power steering pump bolts to release the tension, but those are a super pain to get at. There is a special belt stretching tool made for this job. You can buy it at RockAuto for $6.41 - $7.17; it's listed along with the belts under "Belt Drive" for your model.

The best YouTube video on this that I've found is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8IuBQpImgQ

This one (showing tensioner removal as well as belt removal) is also helpful:

how do i replace an idler pulley on a 02 xg350l

the 02 and the 05 are identical. There are TWO idler pullys ... one for the power steering, and the other for the AC compressor & alternator -- WHICH ONE? In any event, you'lll need to remove the right front wheel and the splash guard (10mm bolts) to access either of the pullys. Use 14mm wrench (or ratchet & socket) to loosen the appropriate pully (Pwr Steering has 14mm nut & two 14mm bolts), The other pully has one 14mm nut & one 14mm bolt.
Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle.

how to remove alternator

Park vehicle on level ground.
2. Remove battery from vehicle.
3. Remove air cleaner outlet hose, engine under cover ( right side ) and exhaust pipe # 2 .
4. Disconnect " B " terminal wire and coupler from the Alternator ( Generator ) .
5. Remove Alternator ( Generator ) belt.

6. Remove power steering pump. Do not disconnect hoses.
6. Remove Alternator ( Generator ) cover.
7. Remove Alternator ( Generator ) bracket mounting bolts.
8. Remove Alternator ( Generator ).

Power Steering pump has three bolts- 2 behind the pulley at 12 and 6 o'clock and one bolt on the back.

Once you get the power steering pump out of the way you can remove the last bolt on the alternator

Ok...I did not remove axle or disconnect hoses on power steering...I did unbolt power steering pump and moved off to side.

after that I disconnected sensor on throttle body and very carefully lifted alternator through the top where your air intake assembly would have been at, right next to A.C. refrigerant lines. It takes a minute , you HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE SENSOR!!

However it is a lot faster that taking off drive shaft and exhaust pipe!

If you go to AutoZone .com they have exploded diagrams of the parts you have to take off and they will show you bolt locations, the power steering pump bolt at 6 o'clock drove me crazy.

P.S. Get a ratcheting 12 mil wrench, it's a life and knuckle saver!!
