Replaced camshaft and crankshaft position sensors. Now backfires when trying to start
SOURCE: no start new crank & cam sensor no power to either sensor
Crank shaft sensor has a clearance specification. It controls the timing. the sensor on the head is an anti knock sensor and won't keep the engine from running. Good luck

That car has 2 crank sensors , did you replace both? One is at the front crank pulley and the other is behind and low on the engine block, above oil pan. Be sure the ICM (ign control module has a good ground, (black wire) it grounds at a bracket where the trans bolts to the engine approx at the 2 o'clock position.
Testimonial: "the check the ground was a good suggestion, i will do that at my first opportunity"

I'd check the key at the dealership. The battery may be flat in it. Also have the key code match to the CPU checked. The security may be the problem or it may be an electical fault such as sticky starter motor brushes or a dead segment in the starter motor amature.

It can be alot of things from no fuel, vapor lock, fuel blockage, bad fuel, no spark, bad coil, ect.ect..The best and cheapest thing to do is go to the local parts supplie house ( here in ky its advanced auto or auto zone) and they will show you how yo use a hand held computer that you can hook up to your car and it will read the codes, then take it back to them and they can tell you what they mean, or the store sells books on your cars that gives all kinds of good maintenance info as well as the codes and how you can repair them. keep in mind dont do any repairs unless you are sure you can do them and it will NOT void any warranty. hopes this helps. if not please contact me and i will help.
the crank sensor is on the back side of the engine just above the oil pan there will be two sensors there one is the crank sensor and the other is oil presser sensor. All so check the wires from the crank sensor to the cam sensor. If you think it is the timing belt pull the cover and check it. hope this helps.
