2003 Prius - 5 days ago: High pitched noise, ABS & BRAKE lights on for over 20 minutes; went away, now they come on for about a minute when I start the car, then it goes away. Dealer said ABS pump needs replacing & quoted me over $2K to do the job. I live in South Cal, so they said car its safe to drive for now. Thank you for your help.
Check your brake pads first,as they have a wear warning clip on them.so if you hear a loud screaming noise. Then its quite possible they have worn causing ur warning lights to come on.And i would get anouther quote as that is quite dear for a pump replacement. If it is the pump.good luck pippall!!
I have same issue. here is my link

You can drive it without any problem, but i know that noise is killing you and you feel shame in neighbors area.
But the problem is too expensive to fixing. you have abs break accumulator failure its error code C1256.
Dealer will take about $1500, other mechanic shops about 350-600 with part and labor. So it is not worth it.
