It runs great but sometimes after I turn it on and I put it in gear any gear it shuts off

I don't know if this will do it for you but I experienced a similar issue. During my efforts a GM mechanic told me that these engines had very tight injector parameters, he recommended I try to use a GM product for cleaning the injectors. It is a little costly, about $25.00 for a black bottle, but I put one in my gas tank and my problem went away. So, every six months I put one in the gas tank and have not have a problem.
Get the real thing at your local Chevrolet dealer.

Sounds like a bent fork in the transfer case. It is a common problem with your truck. The transfer case is a np236. If it just recently started doing this, the rebuild will cost around $800. If the 4wd has been acting up for a while, the planetary will probably need changed, which is another $200.

Hi, OK so I have a 96 Chevy Tahoe which has an O2 sensor out..... Which I was told that shouldn't be the reason for my Tahoe not running right. I turn on my Tahoe and it starts right up no problem but it use to take me about 20 to warm up before it would go anywhere because every time I would put it in gear... Any gear it would turn right off... A studdard then off. I had put in a new rear differential in it and when I got it back from the shop it started up and within minutes I would put it in gear and damn it was running like a champ it would go and I had no problems till one day I was driving on the highway and my Tahoe turned off as I was getting off the interstate. It went back to having to wait 20 or so minutes to get my truck to get into gear to now it won't go anywhere. It starts but won't stay on if I put it into any gear. I hope this helps.
