Replaced speed sensor in a 1994 Lebaron. Speedometer still not working. any suggestions?

It's probably the gauge it self that is bad , they do go bad . Does the vehicle run an shift good ? The vehicle speed sensor is an input to the transmission control module (computer) an the TCM is on the CCD data bus , so are other modules . Like the ECM - engine computer an what ever other modules your vehicle has . The TCM shares speed info with ECM , instrument cluster etc... So if the transmission shifts good an engine runs ok the VSS is good .

check the vehicle speed sensor signal, may need a scan tool to do that. but if signal good then you have a bad speedometer.

I would take a blind guess and sat the speedo sensor has an issue. 99' beetle should have an 01M auto, and the speed sensor is also the dipstick for the final differental drive. search around this area of the trans for the cable and snoop around. loose at the trans ? bad connection somewhere??

could be speed sensor. the light is on because the trans doenst know the vehicle speed.

follow the firewall down.halfway down on trans. you will find a three wire connector. that is your speedometer sensor

I have a 91 Accord. When I purchased it, the speedometer did not work. I replaced the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) and the speedometer started working again. I paid $24 for the sensor on ebay. The local part stores wanted $150. It's an easy fix. It takes about 20 minutes to replace.

is located on the Transmission.
About Under the Thermostat housing ( if you follow the lower radiator hose from radiator to engine) you will found the thermostat housing.
Under the thermostat housing you will see on the trans, the sensor is the only one on this side of the trans,
