Air conditioner has stopped blowing cold air and all pressures measure within tolerance.First thing in the morning blows cold air. after work (4:30 pm), after car has sat all day blows HOT air. Intermittently cool air will blow when windows are down.

Low freon will cause the compressor to short cycle, when the compressor runs the pressure in the low line is pulled down and the low pressure switch turns it off. Not running the pressure builds up and turns it back on. In the old days there was no low pressure switch, with no freon to carry the oil the compressor was destroyed.
The very first thing you need to do is to check for fuses or
say faulty fuse. Secondly check fan which starts along with air conditioner, it
might be manually switched off or the fan may have been clogged. Also reason
can be lack of refrigerant - charge your air conditioner with refrigerant. Last
thing you need to check is cooling coil - the cooling coil may freeze if there
is no refrigerant in the system.
Someone will need to find out if the compressor clutch is failing, or if it is loosing power due to a pressure switch or other problem. A faulty relay or switch could get hot and switch off power to the compressor.
This is most likely the cycling of the AC unit. As the compressor pressurizes the 134a Freon you get the cold air, once it reaches a certain pressure it cuts out. If you are low on Freon it will cycle out more often. Check your freon level with a gauge to see if your within the proper tolerance. If the compressor runs for a period and doesn't reach the right pressure it will cut out to keep from damaging your compressor so it is important to keep the correct amount of freon in the system.
Hi
there.When a compressor is replaced,
two things are in fact being replaced - both the compressor and the refrigerant
(Freon) and if the problem is resolved as a result which of those two replaced elements
caused the original problem?Well you
will never know and so before the compressor is replaced you need to have you’re
A/C system recharged – it’s by far the most cost effective initial thing to do.In general A/C systems loose at least 10% of
their effectiveness each year through loss of refrigerant and so given the age
of your car; it’s the first thing to focus on.A professional A/C centre will also be able to tell you whether your
compressor is working properly after having a refrigerant recharge by the
monitoring the operating pressures in the A/C system.

what is the pressure reading on the low side?? should be around 28-32 psi
