Have a 2005 Jeep liberty 3.7 engine I turned off and it has not started since, check engine light on used an OBDII for diagnosis came back pass turns over but will not start what could be the problem?

Check the easy stuff first. If there is spark at the plugs next try getting it some fuel. If you use a hypo needle with some gas in it you can inject it into the intake. If it shows encouragement and fires then check if there is fuel pressure. If none check the electrical to the fuel pump. If there is power to the fuel pump then remove the fuel pump and apply power directly to see if it works. Good luck.

Fuel filter change did not take care of the problem car still shuts down after 20 minutes of running will not start again for about 20 minutes anyone know what the next move maybe

Have a pressure check run on your fuel pump. Sounds like fuel pump is ready to totally fail. Just had this happen on my ford expedition. And that was painful changing out fuel pump. Took 4 hours and was a dirty job too

2001 jimmy sle. I just replaced the fuel pump. Fuel guage works. Pump does not. Checked fuel pump relay- its ok. Trucks turns over but won't start. Whats next?

Test for ground and power at your fuel pump connector. Also, the sending units sometimes come without the pump itself wired in. You have to actually splice in connections sometimes. If you get stuck, dropping the tank again and removing the sending unit to inspect could be your next step.

1991 dodge spirit.. ran great then next day wouldnt start. only starts when you put gas in the carburater.. changed fuel pump still wont start.. please help

usually if thats the only way it will start that means you have no fuel to engine. first off, check the fuse and relay for the fuel pump. next get under car at fuel tank and put your hand on tank while someone turns ignition to on. if the pump works. then you can feel it vibrate. a fuel pump only turns on a few seconds, to pressurize the fuel line. then when running its on all the time. check fuse and relay first before doing anything else. have a good one !!

Stanley_no spark at plugs, fuel pump not working to,what can i check next?

how did you check the fuel pump? and the spark, because it is 2 different problems, does the fuel pump getting power? did you ever get a scanner and see if you have any dtc codes? the first steps is check all the fuses, and next scan the ecu for codes, see if you have any, for fuel pump related problems you are not going to have any codes, let me know what you get

I have a 1988 GMC Jimmy with a 4.3 L engine. I was told that I needed a fuel pump. After my car sat for a few weeks it started right up. Do I need a new fuel pump or is something else wrong? What...

If it's working right now, there not much you can check, every thing is working, but next time, I would check fuel pressure, or if you can hear the fuel pump working now, listen for that next time.

No power to the fuel pump

Once you check the fuel inertia switch in the passenger's side kick panel, next is to check the fuel pump fuse, engine compartment fuse # 10.

If this checks OK ( power on both sides ), you can pull the fuel pump relay, and jumper it.

The engine compartment fuse panel is where the fuel pump relay is located at ( relay # 301 ). Pull the fuse pump relay out of the socket, and using the diagram below, with the red line, momentarily jumper the Normally open contacts, you shoud hear the fuel pump run. ( mind the pin orientation when doing this ) :

I had a bad fuel pump relay on my 2001 F-150 @ ~ 36K miles. Replaced with the trailer tow battery charge relay ( relay #302 next to it ) and it worked again.
The symptom I had was a crank no start ( theft light on dash went out ).

If the fuel pump does not run, and power is on pin #30 in the relay socket, next is to check the output of the fuel inertia switch in the passenger side kick panel. The output of this is the Pink w/ Black stripe wire. The connector to the fuel pump inertia switch should be a 2 pin connector, the other color in the connector is Dark green w/ Yellow stripe wire ( that is from the pin #87 in the relay socket in the engine compartment ).

If that circuit has power at the passenger side kick panel, next is to check for power at the fuel pump at the fuel tank. The fuel pump motor is the same Pink w/ Black stripe wire. The connector is a 4 pin connector with black ( ground for the fuel pump ) black w/ orange stripe ( ground for the fuel level ) and yellow w/ white stripe ( to the instrument cluster for the fuel gauge ).
When testing by the fuel tank, make sure you have a good ground for the meter ( extension from neg on the battery or trailer tow adapter ) as that could also be a problem under the truck.

Sorry for war and peace, hope it helps.
