You need to look for shock absorber extensions for high rise vehicles or relocation kits for your vehicle. They sell them, keep looking. It helps if you can envision where to relocate to.

Does the truck have a lift kit on it?
- CV Axle spacers may be needed.
Have you recently replaced the CV Shafts?
- You may have gotten an axle that was too short / too long if you got a rebuilt axle.
It might be a worn pinion bearing in the front differential. Those can get louder with more speed. Check for excessive play in the yoke.

I would also check the hub bearings on each front wheel. Its more of a growling sound than a whining sound. I have done both of mine in the last 3 years on my 2000 GMC Sierra. They run about $60 at Napa with a 1 year warranty. You will need a slide hammer.
Jack the truck up so the wheel is off the ground and shake it. If you can move it around, its bad.

I have a knocking noise in my front end whenever I put my 1998 gmc sierra z71 in 4 wheel drive

when was the last time you've checked the fluid level in the front differential?
Try this, quickly. these gears don't last long when the fluid level is low, and it's a real big job to replace the gears/differential housing.

I hope this helps, ask if you need anything.

When driving the drivers side front tire seems like it shakes, I dont know if tires are bad or something with the front end.

check your tires for cupping by looking for chopped or small flat spots ,steel belt wire sticking out, and rubbing your open hand along the tread.these vehicle are bad about wearing out the tie rod and pitman arms.also if your shocks are over 2 years they may be weak and need replaced.wish you the best.

I want to know how to lift the front end of my 2000 GMC Sierri but dont want to buy a lift kit

It depends on how many inches you want to lift it. Keeping it simple. replace your shocks with air shocks or better go to summit.com and find out about their spring spacers. that way you don't replace your springs or shocks
