Display message says "check park assist"

I'm not sure why, but this just started today, I turned on my Nav as usual and the message appeared "Check park assist". I put the car in reverse and went behind to try and hear the sensors, and neither made a clicking noise like I've been told they should. Also, in the car there isn't the normal beeping sound when I backup. Would the problem be the sensors or wiring?

Could be just a fuse. Could be wiring, module, or the sensor. It has to be diagnosed.

Rear Parking Assist Inoperative - Red Indicator Flashes
Does the red indicator flash ?
Diagnostic Aids
• The RPA system is equipped with an on-board diagnostic display feature capable of displaying diagnostic trouble codes from the RPA display. Before using this diagnostics, it is necessary to get familiar and understand how the on-board diagnostic feature operates. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Displaying and to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Clearing on how the diagnostic trouble codes are displayed and cleared from the RPA display system.
• Make sure the rear park assist (RPA) object sensors located on the vehicle rear bumper are clean and clear. Remove any objects that is blocking the sensors.
• Inspect for after market devices which could affect the operation of the RPA system.

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Displaying

This vehicle is equipped with an on-board diagnostic display feature capable of displaying diagnostic trouble codes using the 3 indicators on the rear parking assist display. After the bulb check has been completed, the red outside indicator flashes to indicate a malfunction with the system. The module disables operation of the URPA system under this condition.
In order to enter the diagnostic mode, complete the following actions:
With the ignition turned OFF, short the rear parking assist diagnostic connector to ground while the vehicle is in PARK. For the location of the rear parking assist (RPA) diagnostic connector, refer to Object Detection Component Views .
Turn ON the ignition.
Place foot on the brake.
Shift the vehicle into REVERSE within 5 seconds.
If the vehicle is not shifted into reverse within 5 seconds after turning the ignition ON, the diagnostic mode will still be initiated. However, a reverse input wiring fault will be registered as sequence #7 as shown in the Diagnostic Indicator table below. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Clearing for the specific steps on how to clear diagnostic trouble codes. After the reverse input wiring code is cleared, repeat the diagnostic trouble code displaying steps in order to enter the diagnostic mode.
When the diagnostic mode is first entered, the rear parking assist display displays the amber outside indicator and the red outside indicator. Then, the indicators on the rear parking assist display will display one or more of the sequences in the table below to indicate where the fault exists within the rear parking assist system. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Clearing for the specific steps on how to clear diagnostic trouble codes.

The Rear Parking Assist (RPA) Diagnostic Connector (UD7) is under the front of the center console behind the BCM - body control module.

Hi there,

This sounds like an electrical issue.

You will need to extract the diagnostic codes from your vehicle's computer.

This can be done in the following manner:

** Firstly, attempt the first part of the procedure with engine running **

- With gear lever in PARK, start engine and rev up to 2,500rpm, then gradually reduce revs down to idle speed (ie take foot off accelerator).
- Cycle gear lever through the gears (ie down to 1st, then back up to PARK)
- Turn Airconditioning to ON, then OFF
- Turn engine OFF

- Within 5 seconds, turn the Ignition Key in this sequence: ON - OFF, ON - OFF, ON (leave key in ON position)
- If done correctly, a series of 4-digit codes will appear in your ODOMETER display

** Remember, you must complete the ignition key sequence, within 5 seconds.

Please advise which codes appear and I will assist you futher.

Cheers,

Scott

I'm pulling a trailer and "Park Asst Blocked" light came on the dash. Is it ok to drive with that light on?

{: ) When the park assist system detects a hitched object behind your vehicle, it will normally display that "Park assist Blocked" message. You can still drive safely even with that message. When you're done, just remove the hook off. Turn off engine for a few minutes. turn it on again and drive your truck around for 30kmh or so, then test again the park assist system.

Seems to be problem wiv gear shift, even though in park wont start.Done this yesterday i wiggled gear lever and she started but today nothing thanks

Hello, check the switch thats connected to the gearlever mechanism, this is the switch that stops you from starting it in gear. It is usually encased in a plastic container. You will need to get a new one from your auto parts supplier. I hope that I have been of assistance .

Park assist warning came on.

{: ) SERVICE PARK ASSIST The driver information center (DIC) displays SERVICE PARK ASSIST when the park assist module detects a malfunction in the object detection system and sends a request to the DIC for display of the message. The DIC also displays SERVICE PARK ASSIST when there is a loss of communication with the park assist module.
PARK ASSIST OFF The PARK ASSIST OFF message is displayed in the DIC when the park assist system is disabled due to conditions that disable or inhibit the system. The red LED in the rear display, as well as, the telltale in the switch will be lit, notifying the driver the PARK ASSIST system is disabled. The object alarm module requests the DIC via the serial data circuit to display PARK ASSIST OFF when it detects that one of the following conditions is true:
• The object alarm system is disabled through DIC vehicle customization feature. Refer to the Owners Manual for more information. • An object is attached to the rear of the vehicle, such as a trailer, bicycle rack, or hitch receiver. • An object is hanging out of the endgate. • The park brake is not fully released. • The system receives vibrations from a large nearby vehicle or from a heavy equipment such as a jackhammer. In the case of objects attached to the rear of the vehicle such as a trailer, hitch receiver, or a bicycle rack, or objects hanging out of the endgate, the rear parking assist (RPA) will have an Automatic Object induced disable feature where the RPA will determine if the rear object is moving with the vehicle. If the RPA detects such a condition, the park assist will be disabled. The PARK ASSIST OFF message will continue to be displayed until the trailer hitch receiver is removed and the vehicle is driven forward above 24 km/h (15 mph).
