2001 Saab 9-5 Key stuck- lock cylinder or something else?

Most ignition locks have a small security pin external to the cylinder. Take it to a car locksmith for advice. They are more specialized and cheaper than the dealership. They also have the programming scanners.

Ignition lock on 1988 ford ranger will not turn

Has to be the lock cylinder, moving the wheel usually is the cure.might try some wd-40 in the "key hole" and run the key in and out a few times. sounds like a stuck tumbler. If that does not work, the lock cylinder needs changed,A breeze job if the key turns on,yours does not,so you will have to simply drive the lock pin in with a punch.

Keys will not turn at all in 01 dodge intrepid

Sounds like the tow truck driver is correct, the cylinder lock may have a bad set of tumblers and it needs to be replaced.
One thing you can try is to spray a little wd40 inside the cylinder key hole and work the key in and out and then try to get it to turn but if this does not work then the cylinder will need replacing.
If you do get it to turn then the cylinder should still be replaced due to wear. note; it is important that you do not turn key all the way back off this will make replacing the lock more difficult so do not turn all the way off, it may get stuck again and will cost more to replace. good day

I have a 2005 Malibu and been having recurring problems with the key not turning in the ignition. It happens about once every two weeks and it's a real pain in the **** because I have to fiddle with it and...

I would replace the ignition cylinder. the tumbler are wearing funny and this is causing the key to not turn or get stuck . I believe you have a pass key system on your car too . so after the cylinder is replace or rebuild you may need to do a relearn with the new lock cylinder. Not sure if you can rebuild the key cylinder and if a lock smith would have the right tumbler codes . but i know for sure if you buy the lock cylinder from a dealership they can code the tumbler to match the original key

I have a 2006 Pontiac G6 and I can't get the car to start and the key is stuck in the ignition. The battery is fine, lights and radio still work, but the engine won't even turn over. I tried rocking the...

Make sure that your shift lever is all the way into the "Park" position. Failure to have it all the way in park will cause the key to get stuck and the starter to not turn your engine over.

If you are sure that the shifter is all the way in Park. then your key cylinder could be faulty and you are most likely locked out from starting the car by the Security System. With a faulty key cylinder, the Security System "thinks" that someone is trying to steal the car and locks out the starter and the fuel system.

Replacement of the key cylinder requires re-programming of the computer system so that the security system will recognize the new cylinder and allow the car to start.

I would try to spray some WD-40 in the lock cylinder. You may have to replace the lock cylinder, check some of the other Premium Experts for how to remove the lock cylinder. Alot of cars will not allow the shifter out of park unless the key is in and turned.

My key wont turn and the steerring lock is stuck on

The malibus grand ams and aleros all had the same problem. you are going to need to replace the ign cylinder. You may be able to turn the key by lightly taping the end of the key with a hammer and turning at the same time. If you do get it to turn go get a cylinder from the dealer replace the cylinder. You have to program the theft. When you replace the cylinder try to start the car and leave the key in the on postion untill the the theft light goes out and you shopuld be fine.
