Have you checked the water in the radiator lately
probably overheated and the gauge is not working because there is no water to measure the temp in

    I did say radiator if it has a cap on the top tank of the radiator that is where you check the coolant level for water in the engine
    when you fill the coolant system , there could still be air locks in the engine

You may have a bcm problem? The bcm controls both the brakes and turn signals. Any applicable trouble codes? Click on the link, part of wiring for brake lamps, you can check the fuse and relay. Also, check the fuse circuit for voltage, use a test light.

Your problem is not with the coolant level but most likely the ect engine coolant temp sensor this will explain why the temperature gauge not working. Go to autozone or similar and have vehicle scanned for codes

2008 saturn aura xe3.5 motor 56,000 mile just purchased having problems with it already. ..engine light came on had it check out at auto zone ..only one code p 330 knock sensor. Engine light is off..but...
Bad ignition module often will not set a code for itself. Hard to diagnose due to being so random. Also just possible tach feed wire is shorting somewhere, coming and going.

Where is the transmission dip stck located on 2008 Saturn aura?
It depends on which transmission you have.

If you have the 3.5L or the 2.4L engine you have the 4T40 transmission which does not have a dipstick.

If you have the 3.6L engine, then you have the 6T70 transmission. In which case, your transmission dipstick is located on the transmission fill cap which can be found near your battery.

check coolant level sound like engine low on antifreeze.make sure coolant overflow jug coolant level full cold mark.if overflow jug empty more likely radiator low on coolant allowing air in the cooling system.

How do I change the fuel filter on an 08 saturn aura xe?
According to other forums I checked, the word is that the fuel filter is in the fuel tank and does not need to be replaced. I would simply call a Saturn Dealer service department and confirm that this is true.
