Trailer Wiring Harness Installation 2010 Honda Pilot
Installation of a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2010 Honda Pilot
Today on this 2010 Honda Pilot we will be installing wiring harness part number 118491. The harness itself is located behind the driver side rear bumper, almost right above the exhaust. First we will disconnect it from the clip that is holding it in place. We will pull it out and remove the cover to the plug itself. At this point we are going to install the wire harness that plugs into it. It just snaps back in. Then we are going to route this over to our hitch, make sure we stay away from the exhaust and we will be okay. :28
We are going to pull it out through the bumper fascia and out by the hitch. Then we can zip tie the wire harness in any way we see fit. Now the rest of our excess wire here, you can zip tie to take up the length as away you want it to be. We have the stuff behind the bumper done, so lets go back in the rear cargo area and start adding fuses and a relay. :50
There is a panel back here labeled Auxiliary Fuse, we will pop that off with a screw driver and there is a little cap underneath there that we need to remove too. It can be a bit of a bear, but there is a latch on the very top that you need to push down and pull back. We have our lid here that shows our fuse locations. On is loaded stock, it is not going to be used since there is not a metal contact on one half of the socket. Lets go from left to right. The turn/hazard one will get the 7.5 amp. Install the one labeled back. Then we will put a 20 amp on the side here labeled small. And then we are going to need to install the relay on this socket here that is labeled small LT. Alright we can put our cap back into place and put our panel back together. Then we are going to move down to the left, to this storage compartment right here. There is another panel in the back, you need to pull that out. Here you can see where our plug in is for a little black box, that will plug into place. We will leave that pretty much alone. Store it in a secure spot, put our panel back into place, and next we need to go underneath the hood. 1:59
We are under the hood now. We need to install this square, 30 amp fuse here. We are going to install it in this fuse panel right here. There are two fuse panels underneath the hood, you want to do the one that is underneath the intake right here, which will be the driver side of the vehicle. There is going to be one open slot, that is going to be where we are installing our fuse, and reinstall our cap. Now we can go to the back of the vehicle and check our install is working. Lets go ahead and test our 4-pole. First thing we are going to do is hook up our ground clamp to our white wire, then we will check our running lights which will be the brown wire. Next, our left turn signal which is yellow. Then we will try our right turn signal which will be green. Then we will do a brake signal which will be green and yellow at the same time. With that our install is finished. There you have it for part number 118491 on this 2010 Honda Pilot.
