Hi, there could be a few things causing that like your water thermostat may need renewing , radiator may need a flush out, could even be your water pump has given up. If you flush the radiator stick a new rad cap on .
Boy you have done everything I'd suggest to try,the only thing I can think of when you installed the thermostat did the housing holding it craft maybe a hairline just big enough to cause pressure problems, only other thing else is maybe you have a clog in a hose or in the radiator sorry that's all I got, other then the thermostat they sold you was junk one thing I'd try returning it and get a new one you never said it it was used or new
The drain plug is actually just a screw that requires a large phillips head to remove. It is located on the passenger side at the bottom of the radiator. The best way to locate it is to find the tube that runs from the coolant reservoir to the radiator and look underneath where it hits the radiator. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ XPROG-M V5.0
If it over heated before the thermostat, replace the radiator cap.
Make sure the coolant (recommend just water until this is fixed) is full.
When disconnecting the upper hose you lose all the coolant from the engine and about 1/3 of the coolant in the radiator.
If you only full the radiator you don't have enough water. The new remonstrate needs to open for you to get enough water.
In short- take radiator cap off.
Start the engine.
Fill radiator.
Watch level for 5min, filling as needed.
seems like you might have a bad head gasket remove radiator cap and let it run. make sure the antifreeze is flowing if not it could be the water pump prop many car makers are using plastic props and they fail with time.also very possible that thermostat is bad was it overheating before it received a radiator ,cap and thermostat if so it is between head gasket.,and water pump but if you have no flow it is possible that the water pump prop is broken .there is head gasket test that can be done most shops have them and cost a little to do.to be sure.
You seem to have done all posibilities. A test though to try would be remove the thermostat, put it back to gether with-out it and run the engine. Also, if you do that try it with the rad cap off so you can see if the water is circulating. It wouldn't if the water pump impellors are damaged.
good be the thermostant. if that has the v6 engine 3.8 then have a block test done you may have warped a head, these engines are none for head problems when they are overheated.
You need to replace the radiator pressure cap. I would also replace thermostat, drain and flush radiator to start. If it continues the water pump may be not pumping water. If the thermostat is stuck closed it wont allow water to cycle through the engine causing it to boil and the pressure cap is not holding the pressure allowing it to flow to the reservoir. So first change the thermostat and the radiator pressure cap.
