Removal of alternator in 03 Altima 3.5 l

If you can't get a pair of 4'' vise grips to lock onto the bolts you might have to drive deep well impact sockets on them with a hammer,(use extension bars from your socket set to reach the bolts which you will need to replace once they have been removed)

How do you change the alternator and replace it with new alternator, for a 2003 Nissan Altima, with a 2.5 L engine ?

The alternator is right on top of the 2.5L motor and held on by 2 14mm bolts. To remove the lower bolt (hard to reach), you must remove the coolant bottle and the IPDM fuse board and its metal box/bracket. A breaker bar really helped give enough torque to loosen the 2 bolts. Approach the drive belt from under the front passenger tire. There is a tension adjuster (hard to reach) bolt that loosens the belt and allows you to remove it from the alternator. If the belt is still good, (don't remove entirely) save time and try to keep the belt in a similar position. I am not an experienced mechanic and job took me about 3 hours & $200 for the alternator.

1995 Nissan Altima - replacing alternator

Yes.  Have him purchase a Haines or Chiltons Manual at Auto Zone or similar store.  I have changed 2 alternators on my 95 Altima in my time and I am not an expert mechanic.  Also check out:

Pretty good primer for the novice.

I did not remove the belt all the way. Merely slipped it off the old alternator pulley and then slip the new alternator onto the old belt and then tightened/adjust the belt as needed when done.
Good luck.

Removing alternator from 01 nissan altima

All the bolts that hold the alternator in place are lefty loosy, righty tighty. The desigh of those changed so I am not 100% sure how yours is bolted up. There are alternators, which have 3 bolts and there are 2 bolt alternators. One bolt ontop and other long one at the bottom, which runes from one side of alternator to the other. Note sure, which one you have, but there are NO BOLTS with reverse thread on your Nissan. All loosen up to the left and tighten to the right. Hope this helps.
