I just bought a 2010 jeep liberty limited. It came without the owners manual. Where is the power steering pump and how do you check for fluid level
There are 2 systems, gas and diesel, we can't guess that.
as is there 2 steering systems used above.
the manual is still free, 2004 to NOW
here it is and answers all that.
posted over 300 times now.
100% free, and 100% official jeep book. keep it for next time?
http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/manuals/
page 327 says, leave it alone unless it leaks or fails.
is it failing?
it then goes on saying check levels if leaking then fails to show where it is. but , there are not just 1 engine...so....
so open the hood, find the pump, once you find the pump the hose (1) will got to a filler jar. or the pump side has the RES.
KK liberty is its jeep code. 2008 +
here are the FSM book words
The fluid level should be checked with engine off to prevent injury from moving components.
CAUTION
MOPAR® ATF+4 is to be used in the power steering system. No other power steering or automatic transmission fluid is to be used in the system. Damage may result to the power steering pump and system if any other fluid is used, and do not overfill.
NOTE
Power steering reservoir does not contain a dipstick. Fluid level indicators are molded into the side of the reservoir WITH REMOTE RESERVOIR.
The power steering fluid level can be viewed on the dipstick attached to the filler cap.
Before opening power steering system, wipe the reservoir filler cap free of dirt and debris.
Remove the cap and check the fluid level on its dipstick. When the fluid is at normal ambient temperature, approximately 21°C to 27°C (70°F to 80°F), the fluid level should read between the minimum and maximum on dipstick (GAS) or Reservoir (DIESEL). Only add fluid when the vehicle is cold.
Use only Mopar® ATF+4 . Do not overfill the power steering system.
end.
3.7L? engine. is here.
P= pump and pulley
Res, is filler.
next time say ,what engine you have,
cars can have many engines, and systems match that.
If you don't see it at the front of the engine, you probably don't have one. You have electronic power steering assist.
