There are 2 systems, gas and diesel, we can't guess that.
as is there 2 steering systems used above.
the manual is still free, 2004 to NOW
here it is and answers all that.

100% free, and 100% official jeep book. keep it for next time?

http://www.jeep.com/en/owners/manuals/

page 327 says, leave it alone unless it leaks or fails.
is it failing?
it then goes on saying check levels if leaking then fails to show where it is. but , there are not just 1 engine...so....
so open the hood, find the pump, once you find the pump the hose (1) will got to a filler jar. or the pump side has the RES.

KK liberty is its jeep code. 2008 +

here are the FSM book words
The fluid level should be checked with engine off to prevent injury from moving components. CAUTION MOPAR® ATF+4 is to be used in the power steering system. No other power steering or automatic transmission fluid is to be used in the system. Damage may result to the power steering pump and system if any other fluid is used, and do not overfill. NOTE Power steering reservoir does not contain a dipstick. Fluid level indicators are molded into the side of the reservoir WITH REMOTE RESERVOIR. The power steering fluid level can be viewed on the dipstick attached to the filler cap.
Before opening power steering system, wipe the reservoir filler cap free of dirt and debris.
Remove the cap and check the fluid level on its dipstick. When the fluid is at normal ambient temperature, approximately 21°C to 27°C (70°F to 80°F), the fluid level should read between the minimum and maximum on dipstick (GAS) or Reservoir (DIESEL). Only add fluid when the vehicle is cold.
Use only Mopar® ATF+4 . Do not overfill the power steering system.
end.

If you don't see it at the front of the engine, you probably don't have one. You have electronic power steering assist.

Power steering difficult

Be sure proper power steering fluid level is maintained. If it is at proper level, the pump may be bad. Typically, if fluid level is proper, these systems work fine. Is the pump making any noise?

The power steering pump is shooting fluid put of the top .

Start by checking your fluid level. Is the level between the cold/low line and the hot/high line on the dipstick?

If the level is ok, do you currently have power assisted steering? If not, or the pump whines, you may have a blockage in the power steering pump/and/or lines, and should go to the mechanic to fix.

Lastly, if both those above are not the problem, it could be simply that the power steering cap/dipstick doen not seal properly to the power steering housing. There is a rubber or plastic seal under the cap to prevent fluid from escaping. If it is damaged/split/chipped ... you will need a new cap/dipstick.

Did that solve your problem?

Rear windshield wiper sprayer doesn't work but the fronts work fine 2002 jeep liberty limited

The rear wiper has its own pump motor. pull the hose from the wiper and have someone engage to see if there is a clog. do the same at the motor. if bo liquid comes out then its the pump. also check fluid level in reservoir as well as a possible secondary reservoir

Why is my 93 jeep grand cherokee limited 5.2 v8 whining?

Did you check all the fluids? Power steering can whine when fluid levels get low. I would think of things that are driven by the engine: power steering pump (check the power steering fluid), AC compressor, water pump, and so on.

Check out the belt tensioner; make sure it's not too tight, and that the pulley is properly lubricated. If that doesn't fix it, ask your mechanic about timing belt issues (fairly soon).

Hope helps.

Power steering 2002 Jeep Liberty

Remove the clamped on hose on the pump (not the one with the pressure fitting), drain into a pan below the vehicle. Replace hose and refill, run and turn steering wheel all the way in both directions (to purge air in system). Do not permit system to run low so add fluid after each time wheel is turned, as needed You cannot remove all the fluid so it is good to repeat this procedure twice. Use a good quality fluid. You don't need much, (usually a quart or less) so price should not be an issue. After your'e finished, drive and re-check level and check for leaks if any.

Jeep liberty 2008

When you open the hood look on the drivers side of the engine. There will be a pulley(Power Steering Pump) that your belt goes around, right under it on the back side is where your oil filter is located. It hangs down slightly angled towards the front of the vehicle. (This is of course the 3.7 liter V6)
