You can use synthetic oils in any engine
there are positive and negative s to be considered
All oils have additives in them that are consumed during the combustion process so they have to be changed on a regular basis
as synthetic oils are considerable more costly, then the saving is off set by the change period
They will run at high temperatures with out oxidizing but all the rest is about the same as the good quality mineral oils

Yes you can do it without any problems. If vehicle is high mileage it would even be better than regular oil

SOURCE: is synthetic oil good for 1997 ford explorer v8

They are great oil, but if you been using a brand til now, I would not change it due to high miles you currently have..This can cause a adverse effect by cleaning the internal parts and causing excessive clearance in the motor, thus resulting in engine noise...Check the recommendations on the label first and see if the criteria applys in your case....hopr this helps you...GL

SOURCE: 2000 ford explorer sport 4x4 timing timing chain

A change of oil may help, but problem likely due to a combination of stretched timing chain and worn anti rattle chain tensioner.
If noise persists, a new chain and checks to tensioner would be worthwhile.

SOURCE: does a 100% synthetic oil

Brand makes no difference
Weight, should only be what your vehicle calls for---that should be on the oil filler cap
Nothing wrong with synthetic oils---wouldn't spend the money now, with 150K

Whats is the best oil to use for usage and miles out of a ford exp 2004 for the bang of the buck!

hands down synthetic oil is the best no contest versus conventional oil. i myself being a technician only use mobil 1 but you can also go with pennzoil or valvoline synthetic. castrol synthetic is ok but does not seem as good as the others and i have tried tried them all.

Have a ford 2005 explorer. Manual recomends motorcraft oil which is synthetic blend. Can I use Pennzoil instead? took it for oil change once and they used quaker state.

Regardless of the manufacturer the oil needs to meet SAE specifications in order to have the rating it carries. You can use any quality oil including a full synthetic with no problems providing you use the proper grade (SAE#)

I have 72k on my Explorer. Which synthetic oil should I use.... full or a blend? Which brand is better and I change it myself. Is valvoline ok....

valvoline is fine,I would go with a blend because full synthetic really want have any benefits for you since you haven't used it from the beginning.I would go with a 10-30 blend then switch to heavier weight the more miles you have, make sure you change every 3,000 or 3months or more often in city traffic.

I put 1/3 Quart synthetic blend oil in with my regular oil on accident will this damage my car What should i do? Thank you Roxy

Synthetic and conventional will not "mix" and synthetic creates a barrier on moving parts, that conventional cannot pass. The correct combination will give you no problems and will yield the benefits of both conventional and synthetic. With Engine/Motor Oil, the maximum amount of synthetic recommended is 25%. Foaming will develop if more is used, and the foam will counteract with lubrication. In your case, a little bit of synthetic won't hurt anything!

It depends on what kind of oil are you use.Better quality oil lasts longer(5000 miles). If you drive on cheap oil you better change it earlier (3000 miles).
