Outside of the vehicle you can check for continuity in each of the circuits that go through the resistor. Just need a ohm meter and to get a wiring digram so you'll know what pins complete what circuit's.
First I suggest scanned the computer in order to know exatly what faul code is stored there, could be a adjust problem or wheel speed sensor go to bad.

This requires troubleshooting. You would need to test for voltage at the fan connector with a test light. If you have a test light, test the connector. If the light comes on, the fan is bad. If the light doesn't come on, the fan 2 relay is bad. If you don't have a test light, you can buy one at the auto parts store for a few dollars. If you have more questions, please let us know.
