The top mount brake light works on my 23007 Subaru Tribeca but the rear brake lights do not. Should I check the fuses first - and what fuse is it? The fuse panel descriptions are not descriptive.

There's a harness that runs from the rear body into the hatch, through a rubber tube. These wires break with age and movement.
Remove the hatch brake light and verify that the unit is getting +12v when the brake pedal is pressed. If so, connect +12v + Ground to the brake light directly, and see if it works. If not, you have a ground issue (usually corrosion) the brake light. Look for the ground connection in the hatch harness.
Repairing the hatch harness is doable, and easier than replacing the whole harness.
The solution for the interior lights temp gauge etc. not working is the fuse under the hood as mentioned above. As for the clock resetting, your battery is probably about to go. The tribeca turns off power to the vehicle if voltage drops below a certain level to save enough power to start back up. This causes the clock to lose memory.
The culprit fuse was under the hood - 20 amp fuse called "backup". Discovered nice cache of spare fuses and fuse puller tool in the under the hood fuse box.
had the same problem. no radio, navigation interior lights etc. replaced 20 amp fuse labeled "back up" in the engine compartment fuse box and all checks good.
