Being non-diesel, first check the condition of the spark plugs. If in good condition and tool availability I'd check fuel pressure to eliminate possible fuel pump failure or clogged fuel filter. If you're still in good standings I'd replace the spark plug wires as I had this problem with my Tacoma involving wires with less than 15,000 miles on them, so of course I looked at everything else first thinking there's no way it could be them. Needless to say, it was...
I hope I've pointed you in the right direction.
Is it petrol or diesel?
if diesel check boost pressure sensor

Look under the wheel arch and remove the plastic cowl which protects the under side of the wing.
You will see the aerial under there.

SOURCE: 2006 kia sorento makes a squealing sound under
It is either the tesnioner or the belt....easy way to find out is to spray the pulley that has no grooves....that's the tensioner. Spray it with WD-40 or equivalent, in the middle of the pulley. That is the bearing housing. Spray only that first. Start the motor...if it goes away, then you have found your problem. Try not to spray the belt.
If it still squeals, spray the belt with the engine running. If it squeals, replace the belt.
Has anything been done to the motor recenlty? If so, one of the pulleys may be a little off-centered.
Let me know what you find.
SOURCE: brake and battery warning lights on a KIa sorento
I have a 2009 kia sorento, that had the brake and battery light come on at the same time. It turned out to be my key ring was to heavy. I took off my excess keys and had a new key made. The light has stayed off so far. I may need to put in a new key switch in the future, but for now it fixed it. :)
