Transmission problem? While driving down the road at about 65 to 70 MPH it suddenly stopped going forward. I coasted off the road and checked the Transmission fluid which was slightly over the crosshatched area. I put it in Drive and all forward and reverse gears to no avail. I put it in 4 WD High and drove it about 30 to 35 miles home. I pulled off the highway, put it back in 2 WD and it worked fine in Forward and Reverse gears. Suggestions?

2004 Buick Rainier transmission?

Question edited to remove the abbreviated 'transmission' word.
Question moved to model category.

Call out a Mobile Auto-Electrician. They can use a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose all the transmission electronics, sensors, solenoids, modules and check for codes. The problem is electronics, not the transmission itself.

2005 Acura MDX leaked transmission fluid out of breather oil on top of engine

oil out of the breather is an indictation of excessive oil
if it drives as would be expected, there is nothing wrong with the transmission so move away from the mechaic who stated that ir was "fried"
at 60 mph the rpms should be in the vicinity of 3000-3200 rpms and go up about 250 rpms for every 10mph over that
have the fault codes read or take it to an accredited transmission professional shop and have the bands and clutches adjusted

Transfer case stuck in neutral

something you may want to try to get transfer case into hi gear
.while driving forward, coast at appx 10 mph and place your transmission in neutral while still coasting at 10 mph then try shifting your transfer case to hi .this is a technique used on a lot of different vehicles to get the transfer case to shift. If it shifts into hi range then place your transmission into drive while coasting and should then be where you want.it technique also works to place vehicle into low from hi on a lot of vehicles.hope this helps solve your problem. chris

I first noticed the transmission would sometimes Slip a bit when switching gears at around 25-30 mph. This was a few weeks ago and it was not an every day problem. A dash light appeared around that same...

IF TRANSMISSION FLUID COLOR IS PINK FULL OF BUBBLES EITHER YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TRANSMISSION FLUID IN TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSES IT TO CHURN THE FLUID. OR YOU HAVE AIR GETTING IN THE SYSTEM BUT IT SOUND LIKE TORQUE CONVERTER SOLENOID CIRCUIT OPEN NOT ALLOWING TRANSMISSION GO INTO OVER DRIVE.IF YOU SEE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.BEST TO CODE SCAN VECHICLE TO SEE WHAT TROUBLE CODE YOU GETTING.BY TRANSMISSION BEING PCM CONTROLLED BEST TO SCAN BECAUSE TRANSMISSION HAS MANY SHIFT SOLENOIDS.TAKE CAR TO TRANSMISSION SHOP LET THEM CODE SCAN AND CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID COLOR.NORMAL FLUID COLOR WOULD BE RED COLOR.

How do i do the drive cycle on a 1997 nissan pathfinder

The following drive cycle can be used as a guide to assist with re-setting monitors when a vehicle specific drive cycle cannot be located. This OBDII drive cycle begins with a cold start (coolant temperature below 122 degrees F and the coolant and air temperature sensors within 11 degrees of one another). This condition can be achieved by allowing the vehicle to "sit" overnight, and then by beginning the drive cycle the next day. Most drive cycles will be difficult to follow exactly under normal driving conditions, so the driver should exercise caution, road safety, and courtesy to others.
  1. . Start the engine. Idle the engine in drive for two and a half minutes with the A/C and rear defroster on.
  2. Turn the A/C and rear defrost off, and accelerate to 55 mph at half throttle.
  3. Hold at a steady speed of 55 mph for three minutes.
  4. Decelerate (coast down) to 20 mph without braking or depressing the clutch.
  5. Accelerate back to 55 to 60 mph at ¾ throttle.
  6. Hold at a steady speed of 55 to 60 mph for five minutes.
  7. Decelerate (coast down) to a stop without braking.

All of a sudden wont go forward or rev .

Hello, The first thing to check is the transmission fluid level. When you check the fluid does it have a burnt smell? If so, you probably have an internal failure. Have you had the transmission serviced? Your trans filter may be stopped up.
I hope this helps.
