Just had head gaskets, knock sensor and knock sensor wire replaced. Put around 400miles on it, it set for about a week and a half. Went to take it to town and would only go about 100 yards, 1850 rpms, then cut off.
Things to check first are fuel pressure and spark. Rig up something you can watch during a driveability (road) test. if neither of the two quits working when the engine dies, check for correct ignition timing (and advance) and injector pulses at the injectors.since the engine idles, the problem is probably not a tired engine, but possibly a sketchy sensor (crankshaft or camshaft position), engine computer, or spark controller. Not so expensive to replace, but no fun to troubleshoot.
