2012 Ford Taurus 3.5 liter engine have a timing chain or timing belt?

unless you have a distinct chain rattle noise then it will last longer than a belt which is 100,000klm so have it checked but it should be good for around 120k

It looks like it depends upon whether your Taurus has a four cylinder or a V6 ......I am guessing the V6 has the timing chain and the 4 has the timing belt.

May be its problem with timing chain and it has to be inspected and replaced.Or its possible that timing chain is got misaligned.

None of the engines in a Ford Taurus use a Timing Belt. They use a timing chain that should last the life of the engine. There is no service interval for a timing chain.
