The fuel filter is located along the frame rail on the drivers side.
Look under the truck about were the drivers seat is located, and you will see it mounted in a bracket. For safety, remove negative battery terminal before replacing.
Good luck...i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

That in-line filter is along the driver side inner frame rail underneath. Look in about the area of the door handle and go under the vehicle.FYI there is a sock which is an inlet screen mounted to the in tank fuel pump which technically is a filter.

The fuse is actually a Relay Switch and its located in the Fuse Relay Center on the driverside of the engine compartment. The Black Box is labled Fuse Relay Center, the diagram on the cap displays which Relay is the Fuel Pump relay...the Relay switch is usually $8-$15 depending on where you shop

How do I fix and 97 GMC 1/2 ton with a 350 vortec. Runs great once running. Sat for 5 years. If sits more than 5 minutes wont start without shot of starer fluid

have you changed the fuel filter and emptied the gas tank and put fresh gas in? Stale gas will not start as well as fresh gas and there could be water from condensation in the tank.

My 1997 GMC Sierra 5.0 Litter wont start and i changed the fuel pump regulator, what might be the problem?

engines need 3 things to start (petrol engine)
fuel, air and a spark,
as you have been working on your fuel system it is best to suspect this system first,
on engine turn over see if you can smell fuel at the exhaust.
if you smell fuel the fuel regulation mybe too high and the engine is flooding.
if you do not smell fuel, remove fuel line from engine and ensure fuel is getting to the engine,
(be careful not to let fuel spill this generates a fire risk)..
once fuel is getting to the engine, check your ignition system to ensure you have a good spark to ignite the fuel.
finally check your air filter is not blocked and that you have air getting to the engine.

I hope this was helpful.

I have a 1997 GMC Sierra. The engine is a 5.7 vortex. Is there a fuel filter in the carburator?

This year does not have a carburator,it is fuel injected. The filter is on the inner frame rail on the left side.Make sure and relieve the fuel pressure before removing the filter or it will spray fuel all over. You can do this by removing the fuel pump fuse or relay and start the vehicle and let it run tilit dies. Then turn off the key and replace the filter. You will still get some fuel coming out but it won`t be pressurized.Hope this helps.Good luck.

1996 gmc sierra will start but wont turn over replaced fuel pump and fuel filter

If the check engine light is on, rent a scanner, read out any code(s), and pursue to repair(s). If no ignition along with fuel, the crankshaft/camshaft sensor may be defective. The above scan should identify the problem.

1997 gmc sierra shuts off while driving

Had same problem with a Yukon. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump (Won't show codes.) When cold ran fine, heated up, no pressure. Would start after sitting for about 1/2 hour. When engine dies on you check for fuel pressure under the hood.
