I have conflicting reports as to where the knock sensor is located. ( 99 Lexus Rx 300, p0330 )bottom of engine block, near oil filter, top of engine near vacuum hose or the dreaded intake manifold!

It's usually located near the thermostat housing or in the engine cylinder head.

Check you wiring harness, sometime the connectors are bad or corroded.

code p 0330 refers to knock sensor (KS)2 bank 2 ---circuit malfunction===causes wiring--KS---ECM
it is possible that in changing the harness there is a problem connection or the connection to ks2 is not correct ( not on properly)

I wonder if these two codes are related. P0330 could be due to a bad Knock Sensor which might affect the timing thereby causing issues with air/fuel ratio i.e. P1130

Possible but unlikely. Code p0330 refers to knock sensor(KS) 2 bank 2-circuit malfunction==causes --wiring --KS--ECM. Replace the KS. The engine light is telling you that there is a problem with sensors in the ECM and that is what will be affecting the performance . Shifting is the area of the TCM( transmission control module ) so have that checked out as well

remove intake manifold and air intake chamber completely, the knock sensors are located in middle of engine

I'm not a lexus guy , but I'm thinking that you have a vacuum leak somewhere.

better get another mecanic as the motor is the same as a toyota 3.0 lv6....scary

Hello there..They are in the back of the engine block about in the middle of the motor..There might be one in the front of the engine in the middle of the block but most are in back.Hope this helps you and have a great day..
