The U1000 and U1001 mean that there is no communication between the engine control unit and another control units that are part of the CAN system (Controller Area Network) or that at some point there was no communication. Before do any repairs with the U1000 and U1001 codes, the factory recommend repairing any other problems in the car. What are the other codes that you had?Here's a link to the code. Here are sections of factory repair manual . Read up on C.A.N . U 1000 an U1001 one of the modules is having a problem on the wiring for the C.A.N bus is . You can check at the DLC with a volt meter .
basically that is a communication code between one or more computers
you need a dealer scan tool or something similar like the $8000 snap-on scanner to verify which computers are suspect and a DVOM to measure voltage on the communication circuits between the suspect computers
long story short.... this is a job for a select few technicians.... your best bet, depending on where you live.... is the dealer
your continually removing the battery terminal is what is causing the problem
the ECM cpu program is continually being corrupted by the terminal removal and when you wipe the codes ( read it as reset the ECM) it works fine until you touch the terminal again
permanent solution is ---leave the battery terminal alone
