On my IPS600 D6. Have intermittent chirping noice around belts near electromagnetic engaged supercharger?

I have a chirping or bearing sounding noise, that I am trying to isolate on my daughters college car. Sound varies with RPM.

Get an inexpensive mechanics stethoscope and put the end on the shaft part of idler pulleys, housing near bearings of alternator and water pump etc.
If that doesn't give clear results, try squirting a little water on the serpentine belt as if runs [a length of small drip irrigation hose works really well to get a little water on the belt]. The water will provide harmless temporary lubrication to the belt and change the sound if it is caused by the belt slipping.

Chirping on acceleration

it could be belt noise or pulley noise try belt dressing it could also be several other things p/steering pump alternator a/c compressor or pulley is your a/c engaged when it chirps if not it might be the clutch on the a/c pump

Intermittent chirping noise

I have had alot of customers with this problem. There is another pulley called the idler pulley and alot of times its bad due to the bearing wearing out. I would replace that 1st for around $20

Just replaced the supercharger belt I am trying to release the tension to get it around the supercharger pulley. How do I release the tension of the belt?

There are 2 sepentine belts on your vehicle. You must use a wrench to turn the belt tensioners. Usually a breaker-bar works well.

The tensioner for the outer belt is below the power steering pump and is easier to get to with the vehicle jacked up and the wheel and plastic splash-shield removed. The tensioner for the inner belt (the one for the supercharger) is located between the alternator and the supercharger. (see picture)

I have a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT. We just had the oil changed and now it makes an intermittent chirping noise when underway. It did this once before after an oil change, but the noise eventually went away. ...

Odds are it could be your engine belts slipping. If it is only intermittent then it is really nothing to worry about, but it is slightly annoying. Make sure your belts have enough tension, if not tighten them. If so, you may pick up a can of belt dressing at an auto parts store an follow the directions on it. Basically you spray it on the belt to quiet the chirp.

Automatic tensioners are calibrated at the factory to provide the correct amount of tension to the belt. There is no need to check tensioners for proper tension.
NOTE: Drive belts (8620) with automatic drive belt tensioner (6B209) do not require adjustment.
NOTE: When a drive belt is installed new or reinstalled after a service procedure, the drive belt does not fully seat into pulley grooves until engine has run for several minutes.
This vehicle is equipped with:
  • a V-ribbed serpentine accessory drive belt.
  • automatic drive belt tensioners.
New drive belts should be of the same type as originally installed.
Drive belt chirp is a regularly occurring chirping noise that occurs due to:
  • pulley misalignment.
  • excessive pulley runout.
It can be a result of a damaged pulley or an incorrectly replaced pulley that was not correctly aligned.
To correct drive belt chirp:
  • determine the area where the noise comes from.
  • check each of the pulleys in that area with a straightedge to the crankshaft pulley (6312) for front accessory drive and the water pump drive pulley to the water pump.
  • look for the accessory pulley to be out of position in the fore/aft direction or at an angle to the straightedge.
Drive belt squeal is an intermittent noise that occurs when the drive belt slips on a pulley during certain conditions such as:
  • engine start-up.
  • rapid engine acceleration.
  • A/C clutch engagement.
Drive belt squeal can occur under the following conditions:
  • The A/C discharge pressure goes above specifications:
    • The A/C system is overcharged.
    • The A/C condenser airflow is blocked.

MR2 Acceleration issue

check the air intake tube to the engine for a crack between the MAF sensor and intake of the engine, pull it off and bend it around. look at the bottom carefully.
