check alternator mega 175 amp fuse.check alternator inline 20 amp fuse to voltage regulator and check alternator ignition 10 amp fuse. battery cables could be old worn out causing charging problems.make sure drive belt not slipping.
First thing I would do is have someone qualified disconnect the alarm and stereo and start over. Chances are you have circuits cross-connected and something is draining the battery.
latifrashed, Look for an inline fuse coming off the alternator wires. Ford sometimes uses a 20 amp fuse located under a cover on the firewall marked engine main fuse. Check the fuse and if blown then this should solve your problem. If there are fusible links involved then these will have to be checked as well. Good luck with this.
the red battery symbol indicates a problem in the charging
system , usually an alternator gone bad or possibily
a blown fuse or associated wiring problem.
Advance auto can check it for free.
Follow the batt + wire to a large fuse. there are two one for the starter one for the alternator they blow the fuse when the alternatror goes and this will cause the alternator not to charge.
ok there should be 2 fuse boxes on this vehicle one under the driverside dash one under hood your horn fuse is under dash replace and replace your horn high resistance will cause the horn fuse to blow
YOU MAY HAVE A VOLTAGE DRAIN IF ALT LIGHT IS OUT NOW AND BATTERY DOESN'T HAVE A BAD CELL. TEST AT POSTS,SHOULD HAVE 14.1-14.4V CHARGING. MAKE SURE NO FUSABLE LINKS ARE BLOWN EITHER. GOOD LUCK!
i had a similar problem with my 2000 ford expedition. After 3 new alternators and a new battery i figured out it was a 20 amp alternator field fuse blown located in the under the hood fuse box. Good Luck!
