Only if the factory stereo has an aux input can you connect the two.
Now, if the stereo has a tape deck, you can buy an adapter that plugs into the tablet (or other device) then you put this cassette looking thing into the player and it works.

You may. Have a broken or disconnected wire

might have to take the thing out and take its cover off to remove tape cut the tape with razor knife and prize the cassette out

There is a relatively common issue on these headunits, the aux connection can develop an electrical short, and it will act possessed and change sources like that. Unfortunately the best solution is to replace the headunit.

Source: Chevy just warrantied my headunit for this exact reason.

Fault is in the transfer case shift control switch part number-
15709327. The transfer case incoder actuater and switch are
one unit. It mounts on transfer case . Remove short drive shaft,
remove four bolts holding switch ,replace with new switch.
Re- install dive shaft. Test drive vehicle and confirm repair.
