Vehicle Speed Signal
The vehicle speed signal is generated by the rear anti-lock brake sensor and sent to the 4-wheel anti-lock brake system (4WABS) module. The 4WABS module sends the vehicle speed signal via circuit 679 (GY/BK) to all systems which require a vehicle speed signal input.
Speedometer
The electronic speedometer receives a speed signal from the 4WABS module.

You need to replace your Coolant Temp sensor. Im not to sure on the location of sensor but you will find it on engine. Hope this helped.

P0715 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction in your transmission.

It indicates one or more of the following:
  • an open or short in O/D direct clutch speed sensor circuit# 1 vehicle speed sensor failure
  • O/D direct clutch speed sensor failure
  • ECM
  • Auto-trans assembly
I would definitely find a qualified transmission repair center for solution.

Location of Speed Sensor 1998 Ford Explorer XLT

polarcycle is right but there is a speed sensor on the drivers side top of the trans. toward the tail shaft or transfer case. there is as well a sensor inside the trans. itself that is mounted on the web. behind the overdrive band and drum.
