The trunk would not open on 00' Bonneville

REMOTE TRUNK LID RELEASE - IF EQUIPPED

You can open the trunk from inside the vehicle by
pressing a switch located inside the glove compartment if so equipped. (it is optional)

I have a 1996 Mustang and my trunk release button is located on the inside of the Glove Compartment, it is yellow and on the left hand side of the Glove Compartment.

Check it again, maybe you did not reassembled it right.

So, this might not be the solution to yout problem, but try this...

In the glove compartment of your car, (( I am unsure if this is available in all models )), there is a button that de-activates your trunk release button... Maybe you push it again and try your luck?

The wires in the trunk that run up by the right hinge are broken.

Yes..there is either one inside your glove compartment or its on the floor near the drivers seat or located low on the dash..i hope this will help..Keith

Go inside your glove copartment and turn off the valet button located on the left hand side when yor open the glove compartment

We finally flipped the glove compartment trunk switch (found on the left side inside the glove compartment) to 'on' then the trunk switch by the driver seat worked. We could not tell the trunk switch in the glove compartment was an on/off switch, we just kept searching and finding,

Check the release solenoid for power, open the trunk and have someone press the remote release button, does it make a kind of clunk noise at the latch area? If not check the fuses and the power to the release solenoid in the trunk.

Use the trunk open button in the clove box.
