Seems you need to get a qualified mechanic. Many times a used ECU must be 'programmed' to work with a car different than it was originally installed in. You should be able to have this done at a dealer, or check around for a qualified garage that has the software to do this.

I have a 1992 Toyota RV. It quit on freeway, has no spark or injection plus has no check engine light. Tried 2 ECU rebuilt reprogrammed. Please help, need to talk to someone to explain all tests. Bob

Hi Bob

You need a mobile mechanic with a $5,000 professional grade scan tool computer to diagnose the electronics. I suspect your replacement ECU are faulty and the communications or power to it. Look at the Scotty Kilmer YouTube channel and search scan tool. He uses them frequently and shows what they are capable of. He did a Nissan Altima within the last couple of days.

Vito ignition won't turn to start engine

Hi, if you put your key in to the ignition and the dash lights up and when you turn it to crank and nothing happens , well it can be a couple of things , i would need to know more of the symptoms , but if that is happening and you keep turning the key on and off and eventually it fires up , it is the ecu that has gone bad im afraid ,unless you are loaded with cash you wont mind the mb bill for parts and labour , the best solution is get a second hand one from a van dismanteler , i would recommond dronesfields in manchester excellent alround , the look out for a good indie and have him take the dump file that is on the old ecu and keep it on file so when you get the replacment ecu he will be able to load the file onto it .
hope this is of help to you ,
cheers Joe.

My 00 celica won't start. The battery went completely dead because I had the radio left on overnight. Now it will turn over but won't start. I have been told by a mechanic that the ECU is blown in it, so...

doubt if it is the ECU
check the ecu fuse in the engine bay cluster
and the starter relay are ok

check for spark at the plugs
and fuel pump is working
the fuel pump has a relay

ECUs dont go bad due to flat battery
if you jump started the toyota without putting the jumping earth lead to your toyota motor direct as an earth ecus may blow the fuse
