My son has a 1997 buick Lesabre limited.The head lights and dash lights all come on.The security light was on but now it goes off when he turns the key,but nothing happens.wont turn over just nothing.please help.
The ingnition switch has a wire broken that wont allow the computer to turn the security system off to let the car start
I replaced the ingnition switch the wire was broke but still same problem. Wait around 3 min and it will start. Is there any thing else I can replace.

The security will prove itself after a few seconds, The light goes off. If it takes three minutes to go off, Then the check the plug under the dash for security. Small plug with two small wires. Unplug it and plug it back in. Could be corrosion. Next go to the crank fuse and do the same thing, also do the starter relay. If it still persists, swap the relay. If it stops, replace the relay.
You can still have headlights, but not enough power to turn the starter. Have the battery load tested at any auto parts store.

the head lights come on and the dash lights and all come on,says the security light has been on.When he turns the key on nothing,it doesn't even try to turn over and now he says the security light goes off when he turns the key and it still doesn't turn over nothing.
wish i could have some more info on this is there power to starter? will it try an start?
