i would check the fuel filter, and the fuel pressure for proper pressure.

The best solution to your problem is to see if you need new rotors,brakes,shocks,and suspenion,rocker arms. I have a regency elite 98 oldsmobile that did the same thing.

For 1995 Oldsmobile 98 3.8L SFI OHV 6cyl the Fuel Filter is located under vehicle, passenger side, below seating area, front of fuel tank, mounted on frame in fuel line

Please have a dealership that handles GM vehicles check to see if your vehicle was involved in what the trade considers a run away transmission condition involving the automatic transmissions parking pall linkage defecting thus allowing the transmission to go into drive while the vehicle is idling in park.

Sounds like the torque converter is not unlocking.Have you had it scanned for codes?

Have a fuel pressure test done to determine if proper pressure is there. At very least change fuel filter.

It is in the front of the top front of the block. Under the Power steering pump.

I had a the same problem with my 95' Silhouette it got worse and then would not restart until it cooled off. the problem is most likely the crankshaft position sensor this is what resolved my issue.
