When do I replace the timing belt and waterpump?

Most of the manuals show 60,000 miles for anything beltlike. Usually you can see cracks in serpetine belts, although your timing belt may have a shroud around it.

The water pump should be replaced when it leaks or squeals or when you notice rust in the antifreeze. You should change antifreeze after 2 or 3 years to keep the rust inhibitors active.

95 ranger 2.3l spark knock problem

Is this a manual trans in this truck, if so, try shifting down a gear. But yes a timing belt could cause this, but usually they wont run very well if the timing belt is that bad worn.

Location of the EGR valve/DPFE pressure sensor

What engine? It won't cause any running problem but gas milage will be effected just because the light is on. Ford computers change parameters when the light is on and mileage will drop 1-2 miles per gallon.

Check engine light stays on

On your egr tube you'll see two little black hoses that go up to a sensor. That sensor usually causes the problem and will be undetected by a scanner. It corrodes and sticks the sensor wide open. change that part and your problem will be fixed...
